The origin of the olive tree dates back to the 6th century B.C.E and is native to the area of the Mediterranean Basin. In fact, it is believed that the olive tree may have been first cultivated in Jordan's Wadi Rum over 6,000 years ago. The unique geographical diversity, along with its rich soil, creates a perfect environment for the cultivation and growth of the olive tree.
The olive tree holds a special place in Jordanian culture and society. It is ingrained in their regional heritage and is a food staple that has many nutritional benefits and antioxdants.
